Mansfield Park, for me and I know a lot of people, is one of Jane Austen's harder novels to come to grips with. So do you feel that any of the three film adaptations have come close to the spirit of the original novel? Or has there yet to be one that truly represents Mansfield Park?

Mansfield Park
The third installment of The Complete Jane Austen series, Mansfield Park, will air this coming Sunday, January 27, 2008 at 9:00 pm (check local listings) on PBS.
Here is a quick synopsis of Mansfield Park: Fanny Price (Billie Piper, Doctor Who, The Ruby in the Smoke) is plucked from poverty as a child and taken to live with relatives at stately Mansfield Park. Surrounded by entitled and vain cousins, Fanny forges a connection with one — Edmund Bertram (Blake Ritson, Inspector Lynley Mysteries).

Besides the fact that I'm a total nerd and am a Masterpiece Theater junkie, I have to share my excitement about their upcoming Complete Jane Austen series on January 13, 2008 at 9 PM ET. It includes all six of her (complete) novels, including new versions of “Mansfield Park,” “Northanger Abbey,” “Persuasion” and “Sense and Sensibility.” As well as the old “Emma” with Kate Beckinsale, the 90's version of "Pride and Prejudice" and finally a biopic entitled “Miss Austen Regrets.” The new adaptations were part of ITV in the UK's "Jane Austen Season."
